The blindspot of ‘experience’

As we accumulate years in our life, work, and business, we see the clear gains in wisdom. We become more grounded, more rounded. And so we believe it all only gets better. We now know what is. We smile as we watch the younger, newer bees jump around with ideas and approaches we know won’t work.

Yes, there’s a depth that only time can bring.

But I’ve been reflecting on what we also lose—slowly, gradually, but surely—the creative edge.

As we learn more of how life works, we ask less of the what ifs, reducing our chances of stumbling on new, fresh ideas.

This awareness requires intention.

For starters, I’m drawing more of the “new bees” to myself and listening even more closely to the younger voices I already have around me.
