We need you to lead

We are in a time of excitement, hope and anxiety. We can’t wait for all the new possibilities to unravel. We hope they will turn out for our good. At the same time, we are unable to beat our chests yet, that they will. We don’t know exactly what the future holds and so, more than ever, we need leaders, like you.

We need a few people who will step out of the limitless consumption of new things, observe the patterns, interact with carefully observed thoughts (books, podcasts), make their own careful observations of things, reflect on them endlessly, and guide the rest of us.

They must begin by guiding themselves — recognizing the times for what they are, being humble about the uncertainty of it all, daring to imagine possibilities ahead, seeking for more perspectives, and sharing their voice with others.

And this is the barest minimum for formal leaders. CEOs and founders need to step up and provide guidance for their teams. Priests have to acquire new knowledge and steer their audiences right. Politicians must, for once, educate themselves and wield their mass leadership right.

Beyond leaders in positions of authority, you and I must step up and not wait to be led. We must take charge of our lives, get more enlightenment and in turn extend our leadership so that more people can receive the urgently needed guidance as collective anxiety grows with the excitement.

What might be next?
