One defining question

Over the past 10 years, my work as a strategist has deeply involved a pursuit of intention — in collaboration with our client teams and within our team at FourthCanvas. It has also inspired the same in my personal life.

How do you systemise acting consistently in a way that increases the chances of excellence?

Defining core values helps. Even more powerful is observing and rewarding alignment in everyday actions. But we recently stumbled on a question that takes things to yet another depth.

With Care at the centre of our Lead-Care-Stretch values at FourthCanvas, one of us asked a question out loud: “Did I do this with Care?”

What a powerful question!

Now I’m asking that question almost every minute, even beyond work. It has become such a powerful barometer. The adoption is gradually sweeping across the team as well, hopefully into their own lives outside work too, nudging us constantly towards intention, attention, and depth in all we do.
